Yep.... still here [Sep. 18th, 2004|01:43 am]

[music |nothing but the crickets outside...]

I haven't withdrawn from LJ-dom altogether, I've just been hella-busy lately. With school, work, Hurricane Ivan, a paintballing trip, med school applications, and general party/drinking my time has been limited. Right now my roommate who I have gotten along with pretty well this semester is out in the common room talking to the campus police and EMTs about all the pills she took this evening. Yep, I got a pill-popper for a roomie. Her father called the campus police based on a text message from AIM that suggested she might be overdosing. Really nice, but apparently pretty damn crazy girl.

Hurricane Ivan caused some fun flooding around campus, plus a tree in the parking lot where I usually park fell on the only car that was there yesterday morning. Most everyone else who lives in the theme house had moved their cars to a more distant, but safer location on campus.

I read the Angel: No Limits premiere. Wonderful stuff. It doesn't remotely fill the hole the WB's fucktardness has made, but it will keep me from becoming supremely depressed as the new television season begins and Angel, and more importantly, Wesley's not there. The one new show I will be giving a try is J.J. Abram's "Lost". I've never had the desire to get into "Alias", but the premise for "Lost" has me intrigued. Plus I'm taking an Advanced Outdoor Skills class so I definitely look forward to yelling at the TV when they do something stupid, outdoor-wise, of course.

DragonCon 2004 - Saturday [Sep. 5th, 2004|12:54 am]

I didn't go to the Friday stuff. I'm pretty broke and I didn't even get off work until 5:30 PM so I didn't want to spend the money for a couple hours of fanny goodness. Instead I went to a birthday party type thing at a Turkish belly dancing restaurant and hung out with a friend and drank some Bacardi 151.

Squeee!!! Fanny goodnessCollapse )

The con was cool, but I definitely felt out of place. Large chaotic parties that span 3 hotel lobby floors just ain't my element. I felt more comfortable in the panels and the smaller rooms and of course the autograph session.

I'd love to go tomorrow, but I just don't think I can do another day. I got plenty of fanny goodness today and I need to rest some and do homework.

I did it again. That thing where I sorta neglect to post for a long time. I think I made a post at one point, but the damn thing went bye-bye so I got annoyed and didn't repost. I'm a busy gal now I suppose. School's started up again. I've been doing a lot and stressing a lot over various things. Most of it revolving around money and trying to figure how I'm going to live off solely my work-study money ($900) for the entirety of the semester and still go to DragonCon (Adam, Nathan, Jewel!), buy Angel Season 4 DVDs and the POA DVD, occasionally waste money on alcohol, etc. That's not even including the approximately $200 I already spent on books.

*Gasp* I might have to develop a budget or get a second job. I'm thinking second job might be the answer because I gotta start saving up for Europe this summer too.

My muses have gone to Tahiti apparently because I for the life of me can't get started on my ats end of days story. I have plenty of ideas... just nothing that is screaming "Write me!" yet. Very annoying of them to do that right now.

Smell that beautiful Atlanta smog-filled air. I'm back in A-Town, as I affectionately call it, and in the dorms. I'm taking some of the freshmen out on a caving trip until Saturday so I'll be gone for a couple more days until things finally settle down.

I spent most of the last couple days on the go. Driving around campus on various errands, talking to the freshmen who come early to campus to go on our adventure orientation trips, and moving into my own dorm. I'm looking forward to my trip tomorrow and as I have to get up around 7:30 AM tomorrow/today I better get to sleep.

See y'all later!

Charley took an unexpected northeast turn and hit about an hour south of us. No flooding or wind damage at all. Whoohoo!!!

It's been a long day (again), But I'm so happy to be back in our non-damaged apartment. Thanks for all the well wishes and thoughts!

Well, fuck. Fuckety fuck fuckers. Mandatory evacuation for our place by 6 am tomorrow. Looks like Charley's gonna hit us directly as a Cat 3. We're going to the hotel that grandma's staying at.

It's been a stressful day. Got most of my stuff from grandma's place, and then had a hellish 8 hour shift at K-mart in which time seemed to slow to a standstill and various other torture devices such as smashed fingers and annoying stressed out customers were used.

I really hope to god our apartment's not under water when we return.

I'm getting a little more concerned for this storm. It's now predicted to make landfall a little north of here. Which is bad because the storm surge is worst in the southern part of a storm. I really hope our apartment doesn't get flooded. We're like 25 feet from the river and on the first floor.

Grandma and Uncle Phil and his family are going to a hotel inland. We might end up joining them if we get ordered to evacuate, which is possibility. Mom says we're in the flood zone for a category 1 storm and Charley might end up being a Cat 2.

Weather's still nice. I'm going to Grandma's house to move her car to our apartment and to get my stuff out of the boathouse, then I gotta work at 2:30. It's gonna be a fucking madhouse at K-mart.

It's a nice beautiful night here in FloRIda... K-Mart had a large amount of water and battery purchases. It was pretty busy but never got to the OMFG (oh my fucking god) point. Worked out in the evening and then went out to a local bar with twin sister and negated said exercise. A guy named Larry bought me a Corona.

Looks like the fucker's gonna hit us. Will keep y'all updated until we inevitibly(sp?) lose power.
